The National Teacher Suraksha Policy (NTSP) is India's first-ever insurance product designed exclusively for teachers — combining 24×7 worldwide Personal Accident cover, 11 Critical Illness lump sum, and Third Party Liability protection in ONE inbuilt base policy. Three essential covers every teacher needs, automatically included.
the insurer Miscellaneous Insurance· Teachers Exclusively· India's First· PA + CI + TPL
India's first and only insurance product designed exclusively for teachers — combining three essential covers in one base policy that every teacher needs but no single product previously offered.
This is the insurer's own published description of the National Teacher Suraksha Policy. Before NTSP, no insurer in India — not the insurer, not Oriental, not the insurer — offered a dedicated insurance product for the teaching profession. NTSP changed that: one policy, three covers, purpose-built for teachers.
The reason it is "first-ever" is the unique combination: Personal Accident + Critical Illness + Third Party Liability — the last of which addresses the professional liability risks teachers face daily that no standard PA or CI product covers.
24×7 worldwide cover for accidental death, PTD, PPD. Commute, lab, sports, field trip — all covered.
BASE COVER 1Lump sum on first diagnosis of cancer, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure + 7 more life-threatening conditions.
BASE COVER 2Professional liability protection when parents or students make claims for injuries during supervised activities.
BASE COVER 3 — UNIQUEthe insurer's confirmed description — the only dedicated insurance product for the teaching profession in India's history.
First in IndiaPA + CI + TPL all inbuilt as base covers. No need to buy separate policies — one NTSP replaces three products.
Triple CoverPersonal Accident cover anywhere in the world at any hour — school, home, commute, travel, field trips.
Always OnFirst diagnosis of cancer, heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, or 7 other critical illnesses triggers immediate lump sum payment.
CI CoverThird Party Liability is inbuilt — the only product in the insurer's portfolio (and India's market) to include TPL for teachers.
Only in NTSPExtend NTSP with up to 3 optional covers including burglary protection, personal belongings cover, and additional accident benefits.
FlexibleThe Three Inbuilt Shields — from the insurer
All three base covers are confirmed from the insurer's published product description. Each section has its own Sub Limit as per the Table of Benefits. Select a cover below to view its details.
Bodily injury from external, violent, visible means — death within 12 months of accident.
Loss of both eyes/limbs/one eye+limb, or general PTD preventing any occupation.
Total and irrecoverable loss of one eye or one hand/foot.
Specified body part disability — percentage per the insurer's PPD assessment schedule.
NTSP pays a lump sum on the first confirmed diagnosis of any of the 11 specified critical illnesses — this is NOT a hospitalisation reimbursement policy. The lump sum is paid directly regardless of actual treatment costs. A survival period (typically 30 days post-diagnosis) applies. Sub-limits per the Table of Benefits apply. Contact 022 4302 0000 for the current CI Sub Limit schedule.

Settling independently voids your TPL cover.
11 Critical Illnesses — Inbuilt Base Cover
NTSP's CI section pays a lump sum on the first confirmed diagnosis of any of 11 specified critical illnesses. This is NOT a hospitalisation reimbursement — it is a lump sum that you can use for treatment, income replacement, or family support.

Lump Sum on DiagnosisThird Party Liability — Unique to NTSP· The Only Cover of Its Kind
No standard Personal Accident or Critical Illness policy covers Third Party Liability. NTSP is the ONLY product in India to include TPL as an inbuilt base cover for teachers — addressing the real and rising risk of legal claims from parents and students.
When a student is injured during a supervised activity, or property is damaged — the teacher may be held legally liable. Parents and students increasingly file legal complaints and civil suits, seeking damages from individual teachers. Without TPL cover, the teacher bears all legal costs and awarded damages personally. With NTSP's inbuilt TPL, the insurer handles the claim and pays the costs up to the Sub Limit.
Student's face burned by acid splash during chemistry lab experiment supervised by the teacher.
Student fractures leg during PT class activity — parents allege inadequate safety supervision by PE teacher.
Student injured on school excursion supervised by class teacher — parents seek compensation from the accompanying teacher.
Student alleges injury from physical disciplinary action by teacher — files police complaint and civil suit.
Student claims wrongful marking or unfair evaluation caused career harm — files civil case against teacher.
Online teacher/EdTech faculty faces claim over data shared in class, content misuse, or privacy violation by student.
the insurer's confirmed policy language: "The insured shall not negotiate, pay, settle, admit or repudiate any claim without the written consent of the Company."
If any student or parent threatens legal action: Step 1 — Call 022 4302 0000 immediately. Step 2 — Do not admit fault. Step 3 — Do not pay anything. Step 4 — Let the insurer manage the claim. Settling independently will void your TPL cover under NTSP.
3 Optional Covers — Customise Your NTSP
NTSP offers 3 optional covers from its Table of Benefits. These can be added to the base policy at additional premium. The exact optional cover names and Sub Limits are available in the current Table of Benefits — call 022 4302 0000 for the complete schedule.
the insurer confirms that NTSP has exactly 3 optional covers in its Table of Benefits. The base 3 covers (PA + CI + TPL) are confirmed from the insurer's published description. The optional covers below are identified from the insurer's NTSP claims language — particularly the burglary claim procedure ("In the event of burglary, lodge forthwith a complaint with the Police.") which directly confirms burglary is a covered section under NTSP. The other optional covers are inferred from the product category and standard teacher-specific insurance products. Call 022 4302 0000 for the exact Table of Benefits.

YES — a female teacher can (and arguably should) hold both. NTSP provides the teacher-specific TPL cover and the unique NTSP position. NYWAP provides the women-specific CI emphasis (breast cancer, cervical cancer specifically highlighted). There is no restriction on holding both policies simultaneously. At claim time, each policy is assessed independently.
What NTSP Does NOT Cover
Each of NTSP's three base sections has its own set of exclusions. Review all three carefully — especially the TPL exclusions, which are unique to this product.
Any deliberately self-caused injury or death — including attempted suicide.
Death or disability whilst under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the accident.
Racing on wheels, hunting, mountaineering, winter sports, skiing, ice hockey — excludes professional sports. School sports COVERED.
Death or disablement arising from insanity or mental disorder.
Injuries arising from committing any breach of law with criminal intent.
War, civil war, nuclear radiation, radioactive contamination — standard PA exclusion.
Death or disablement arising from pregnancy, childbirth, or miscarriage.
Any disability existing on the policy inception date — not created by the accident.
Any CI that was diagnosed or treated before the policy inception date is excluded.
CIs arising from congenital disease or genetic disorders present at birth.
Any CI directly caused by or attributable to HIV infection or AIDS.
CI diagnosed within the waiting period (typically 90 days from policy inception) is not covered for the first year.
Death within the specified survival period (typically 30 days) from diagnosis — CI benefit does not trigger.
TPL from deliberate, wilful injury or damage by the teacher is excluded — TPL covers negligence only.
Any liability assumed under a contract or agreement — only tortious/negligence liability is covered.
Criminal fines, court-imposed penalties, or prosecution costs are excluded from TPL cover.
If the teacher settles, admits, or pays any TPL claim without the insurer's written consent — the cover is void. Always notify the insurer first.
Standard TPL exclusion for war, civil commotion, and nuclear events.
How to File an NTSP Claim — 4 Tracks
NTSP's three sections each have a distinct claim process. TPL claims have the most time-critical step — notify the insurer IMMEDIATELY and do NOT act independently.
