Coverage Under Cart / Tonga Insurance
The policy is structured in three sections mirroring motor insurance, plus an animal injury cover. Choose the sections you need.
| Nature of Loss / Disablement | % of CSI Payable |
|---|---|
| Death of owner-driver due to accident | 100% |
| Permanent Total Disablement (PTD) | 100% |
| Loss of two limbs OR two eyes OR one limb and one eye | 100% |
| Loss of one limb OR one eye | 50% |
| Permanent Partial Disablement (PPD) | As per schedule % |
How Claims Are Calculated
For partial damage: actual repair cost minus applicable depreciation on parts, minus compulsory deductible (₹100). For total loss / theft: IDV minus compulsory deductible settled.
TP claims assessed by a court / Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT). The insurer pays the determined liability — subject to policy terms and statutory limits under the Motor Vehicles Act.
PA claims paid as a % of the Capital Sum Insured (CSI) chosen at inception. Death and PTD attract 100% CSI; loss of one limb or eye attracts 50% CSI; PPD attracts the applicable schedule %.
If declared IDV is lower than the actual market value of the vehicle at time of claim, the condition of average applies — OD claim reduced proportionally. Always insure at full current market value.
| Parameter | OD Claim — Tonga (2 yrs old) | Theft — Bullock Cart (Total Loss) | PA Claim — PTD of Driver |

| IDV / CSI | ₹ 20,000 (IDV) | ₹ 15,000 (IDV) | ₹ 1,00,000 (CSI) |
| Repair / Gross Claim | ₹ 6,000 | ₹ 15,000 (IDV) | 100% of CSI |

* Illustrative only. Actual settlement depends on surveyor assessment, applicable depreciation, and policy schedule terms. TP claims settled per court / MACT determination.
Policy Conditions
The following 12 conditions are binding under the Animal Driven Cart / Tonga Insurance Policy. Non-compliance may result in claim rejection or policy voiding.
The cart / tonga must be accurately described in the policy schedule — type, registration details (if any), IDV, draught animal type, and declared purpose.
IDV = current market value at inception — agreed between insurer and insured. Cannot be altered during the policy period.
Any modification to the vehicle must be declared to the insurer. Undeclared modifications may void coverage for claims arising from those modifications.
The insured must take all reasonable steps to protect the vehicle and animal from loss or damage. Wilful neglect may void the claim.
For theft claims: Police FIR is mandatory — must be lodged immediately. FIR copy + non-traceable certificate required for total theft claim submission.
For OD claims: do not authorise repairs without prior insurer survey / approval for claims above the applicable threshold amount.
The vehicle must be used only for the declared purpose (goods transport / passenger hire / private use). Undeclared use voids the cover.
Section C (PA) covers only the named owner-driver in the policy schedule — not other riders, passengers, or labourers.
Transfer of ownership: policy must be transferred to new owner within 14 days of sale. Failure to transfer voids coverage for the new owner.
The insurer reserves the right to inspect the vehicle and draught animal at any time during the policy period to verify declared details and condition.
Subrogation: on settlement of any OD or TP claim, all rights of recovery against responsible third parties are automatically transferred to the insurer.
Renewal: IDV is reassessed at each annual renewal based on the depreciation schedule. Vehicle condition must be re-declared to confirm current market value.

Insurer appoints a surveyor to inspect the damaged vehicle — do not repair before approval. For theft: obtain Police FIR + non-traceable certificate from police.
Submit: Claim Form, Policy doc, FIR copy (theft), surveyor report, repair bills / estimates, vehicle / animal details, photographs of damage, bank details. For PA: medical / disability certificate.
OD: repair cost or IDV. Theft: IDV minus deductible. TP: as per court / MACT assessment. PA: per disablement schedule. Animal cover: as per agreed value and terms at inception.
